Say sorry to the stolen generation
In the last 100 years in Australia aboriginal children were taken of their parents by so called well meaning white folks and brought up in whit families. This was a whole generation and more of black Australians that were stolen off their parents. This was said to be done to educate the back people and make them more white and better assimilated into the white Australian population as we were told that the black people were back in the cave man era and needed to be trained how to live like a descent white fulla.
It was terrible as not only did mothers weep themselves to sleep at night for years missing their children, but even the children were separated so that sisters and brothers were not in the same home.
The outgoing government this past weekend did not have the courage to say sorry to the Australian Aboriginals. We are told that admitting guilt would be the start of a whole raft of legal suits as dispossessed aboriginals would bring their cases to the court for monetary reward for their abuse.
Yet the new government has announced that they are going to say sorry to the stolen generation. It seems that they are not afraid of these supposed legal ramifications. I Think its more to do with fair dinkum guts and good solid Australian respect and love this new party has for the original people of this land.
I think John Howard was a coward.

Ratify the Kyoto agreement on the environment emissions.
Most civilized governments in the world have singed an agreement to decrease carbon emissions over the coming years. Its called the Kyoto agreement and I hope I spelled it right.
Now within days of power Kevin Rudd our prime minister has announced that Australia will be signing it under his government. I am so happy.
It's really a shame when so called Christians lead a country who have their heads in the sand. Most Christians don't believe they will be on planet earth when global warming really causes havoc. They believe through their teachers that before the really bad things happen that are mentioned in the book of Revelation in the Bible that they will be taken to heaven by Jesus.
Because they are not supposedly going to be here when all the bad stuff happens to the rest of the people in the world that were not Christians then they don't really care about protecting the earth and its environment.
That is why a nation like the USA who has over half of its population going to church each week not getting really serious with the carbon emissions.
Now I am a Christian myself. But I hold the view that Christians are going to suffer with the rest of humanity for a time until they get serious with God and when they have been tested then He'll take them home.

Kevin Rudd's government is going to give every high school child a laptop computer
I don't know what a $1000 means to you but to me it's a lot of money. Having three children in a house trying to use the one computer for school is hard on Australian families so Kevin Rudd is going to buy each child a computer laptop if I have heard the news correctly.
That's not $3000 for a gamblers household in cash to be spent at the pokies. That's 3 computers for their children to use.
Thinking of practical things, this government who has been out of power for 11 years in Australia haven't been wasting their time complaining about the opposition they have been really thinking!

Work choices to go
Our last government was on the side of business and not so much the workers and so they made employees enter into work agreements that cut out overtime rates and penalty rates and had lower hourly rates then what they used to be paid.
That who system is to be scraped now and the honest man and women in going to get an honest days pay!
I am very happy to see the change of government. I never used to be a voter for this government but in this election I voted for them.
There was talk that they were going to bring the Australian troops back from Iraq, now that would put a big smile on my face.
